My wife’s 2015 Zoe (Q210) has just come up with that fault code.. we’ve tried 2 other charge points in case our home charger is faulty, but still same. Battery charges when being driven (braking, slowing down), but not from charge point. Only happened this week when it was really hot, charged fine on Sunday.. really stumped now

Thanks for the heads up, We have 23000 on our Shanghai MYp here in Bangkok. We didn’t have any complaints when we picked it up new and it’s been so simple to own and drive daily. My wife and I are not gentle on the car so I will be looking at these suspension components for advanced wear. I did take the Trunk lid interior and rolled in some dynamat (sound proofing) on that awful piece of tin. When the heavy rain land on the top surface, say off of a roof line, it was incredible noisy. The made the car much more quiet over all that when I installed the presenting door handles and soft closing door latches, I added some additional sound proofing (just a little) to the doors. Now riding in someone else’s model Y is very different. I added about 8kilos to the weight of the car. And of course I installed the power frunk kit. The latching cable has broken after a year, so I ordered another from EVOffer and a spare for next year.

I thoroughly enjoy using Regen level 3 but also often use the left paddle if needed, which kind of gives it a level 4 & even firmer slow down. Also for those that don't know, if you hold down the drive mode button for 3 seconds, it goes into Eco-Plus Mode. Top speed is throttled, climate and a few other features are disabled, but it ensures maximum range for those longer trips where charging isn't readily nearby. I've owned a lot of different vehicles over the years and my 2020 IONIQ limited (US model) might be one of my favorites overall due to simplicity. I drive roughly 70-100 miles 5 days a week and my electric bill has only gone up $25-$40, yet I'm saving easily $120 in fuel costs a week. Charging at home during non peak/demand hours and weather situations will ensure the least amount of KwH usage costs as sometimes power companies charge 3x the money during overly cold or hot weather. Usually most power companies give a detailed cost/usage time frame so you can ensure your not wasting money at a time when you could of just charged it a few hours later for much less money. The car has a built in scheduling system to start and stop charging automatically to ensure you follow the cheaper rates.✌️

SPOILER ALERT for you James, there is a very good reason why the Leaf has no electric seat or user memory, it also has no over the air updates or anything else taken for granted by Tesla drivers. It's NOT a tesla. I bet you could'tget the Nissan app to work either. I had a Leaf for 12 months and the Frigging Nissan app NEVER connected to the car. Flipping useless. NISSAN are not serious about their EVs. They are still making their battery without any type of cooling system. I live in Australia, it gets pretty hot here in summer. With no battery cooling the Leaf battery is designed to deteriorate fast. I will NEVER buy another Nissan product. The car performed well, but it was just not up to scratch.

Fantastic update with reassurance the MG5 is a workhorse! I am keen on them as I plan to get to more trade fairs and events, as well as doing the odd gig across the Dorset/Hampshire area and maybe a long-distance break sometime in the future. Definitely at the top of my wish list when funds allow!

Great update and your videos encouraged me to go and look at an MG5 so very soon I will be replacing my ageing C Class estate with a 2021 or 2022 model. One thing I think you should maybe consider is changing brake pads (for all your customers) after a maybe 9 or 10 years regardless of wear. I have seen two cars recently were the friction material fell off the pad due to corrosion leaving the driver with a very dangerous moment of zero brakes until the caliper closed the metal to metal. Of course after the moment of panic the brakes were now severely compromised until they were replaced. Just a thought but keep up the great work.

Hi James & Kate. I have been swatting up on EVs this last month or so - watching every video on your channel from day one. It's been great to follow your journey on the road (literally) in electric vehicles and as a family. Thank you for sharing so much information and insight. My late Dad and I have had several MGs between us including two MGB GT V8s (one of which was the ex-Thames Valley Police demonstrator - GOF88L), a 2004 MG ZS, my old 2004 MG ZT-T which I decided I really didn't like and got rid fo it years ago, and the last one being a ICE MG3 which I drove for six months whilst Dad was receiving cancer treatment. I am very much supporting the MG community, in Dad's memory, through my work under the Artisan Intermedia banner. I am keen to switch back from my current workhorse Honda CR-V to an MG EV. The MG5 is keeping my attention as I have always loved estate cars and need enough space to throw my mobility scooter in now that I live with Multiple Sclerosis. Thank you again for the insight into the MG5.

My 2018 40Kw leaf has just passed the 100,000 mile mark with no loss of battery. The only problem was a failed 12v battery changed myself, 1 set of brake pads, seized foot brake cable and drivers door power window switch. 2 dealer services when under warranty. Haven’t bothered taking it to a garage for service as it’s a total ripoff due to very little moving parts and only one filter (cabin) which can be replaced easily.

I am looking at buying one of these, I have looked at fully electric but I don't have access to off road parking and the infrastructure in the area where I live is, one in the town where I live, one in the next town up, and that's all between home and work, there is the motorway service area but that's even more expensive, I drive 30 miles each way to and from work, I drive a Smart diesel as my everyday car as it acheives 85-90mpg and it's covered over 150000 miles in my 13 years of ownership, the Yaris will be the load carrier/people carrier when I visit the family who don't drive. I would like to be as environmentally friendly as possible, this is the only possible answer to being clean. As far as sat nav and technology goes, I'm old, I don't understand any of that, as someone who still uses a Nokia phone, technology is not my strong point. My sat nav is a map that I carry in the car not a screen

If you need a certain amount of BTUs you need a certain amount of BTUs and it's that simple, whether it's a 1 Kw infrared panel or 1 Kw fan heater or 1 kw oil filled heater it's all the same only the fan heater and oil filled radiators are much cheaper.

Picking up James' point regarding the traction battery doing high mileage over a short or long time. There's an arguable point, I feel, that 100k miles over 10 years is easier on the traction battery than 2 years for the same mileage, especially if you have a battery that hugely prefers lower charge speeds, say in the Type 2 range of 7-22kWh. Over 10 years/100K miles you are obviously going to do less truly rapid charging. So I would say that it is arguable [not definite] that high mileage in a short period is harder on a traction battery than spreading it out over an extended time. And if true, it means that MG5 is doing even better than it already seems.
